In the beginning of my senior year I wrote I daily post named “The Daily Niz” where I would just post whatever the fuck I wanted, short or long, just with that title. So, I think I’m gonna do something like it where I’ll be posting on a random basis things about my life, and tag a picture of myself for whatever it relates to.
I know that I haven’t been on at all lately, but I have my reasons; Tumblr, you’re an addiction. Although I am supposed to be writing an essay, I figured I should take this time to recap my first true semester of college. I know I’m not done, and the last three weeks are probably going to be the worst three weeks of the entire semester, but this is a good recap of what it was all like.
I started working at the bookstore a few days before classes started, and it was draining all of my energy. Rush week is hell. I am not kidding. Picture: waking up, going to class, working, going back to class, and then going back to work and close. I did make a lot of money that week, though, so I shouldn’t complain.
Classes were freaking tough at first, and I swore I was the shit. It wasn’t until I failed my first calculus exam that I noticed I really needed to let go of my pride, study a hell of a lot, and seek help from my friends.
Being an engineering major is fucking tough. Not only because the classes are really difficult, but because you have to deal with all of the fucking honors students bragging about how amazing they are.
As the semester went on, I did many things I shouldn’t have done, but I learned from them. I got drunk a few times, and was barely getting any sleep. The day that I forgot to do a calculus homework was the day I knew I had to stop doing what I was doing. I’ve never missed a homework assignment for a class before. Ever since I stopped doing those things, my grades have improved tremendously!
Conclusion: College is really freaking tough. You come out of high school thinking you’re the shit because you got into one of the best schools in the nation, but you gotta realize that the school is so greatly ranked for a reason. You better shape up fast as fuck because if you don’t, you will get screwed. Also, don’t let classes scare you out of your major. If you truly want to do something and seek a certain path, do not let anything stop you. There are so many fucking distractions, but you gotta remember to stay focused. trust me, there will be time for you to go out and have fun, but your studies come first. Remember, you are paying for those classes.
